While certain features, such as AI backgrounds, focus on enhancing user customization of the Snapchat chat interface, others like the My AI chatbot aim to offer interactive experiences. Let's explore five of the current generative AI features that are accessible to Snapchat users.
1 AI Lenses
Snapchat's AI Lenses function allows users to preview how they would appear in various scenarios or time periods. For example, the 90s Lens transports you to a virtual setting from the 1990s, while the Festive Lens immerses you in a holiday-themed environment.
Accessing these AI lenses is possible by scanning a Snapcode, searching for them on Lens Explorer, or unlocking them through a deep link.
2 AI Backgrounds
AI Backgrounds is an exclusive generative AI feature offered to Snapchat+ subscribers. With this feature, you can design entertaining backgrounds for your contacts using any prompt that appeals to you.
To craft fresh chat backgrounds, simply tap on your profile icon located in the top-left corner of the screen and opt for Snapchat+. From there, select Chat Wallpapers and pick the desired contact to assign the wallpaper to. You can then either select from the available wallpapers or generate a brand new one by entering a prompt of your choice. This feature provides an excellent opportunity to add a personal touch to your conversations.
3 My AI
Snapchat’s AI chatbot, My AI, is an exciting experimental feature that is now accessible to all Snapchat users. One of the fascinating aspects of this feature is the ability to customize My AI's personality and Bitmoji, as well as change its name. You can engage in conversations with My AI and even ask it specific questions.
During my exploration with My AI, I thoroughly enjoyed experimenting with various personality types and observing how each one influenced our interactions. Powered by OpenAI's GPT technology, My AI possesses a wide range of capabilities. It can assist you with recipes, help plan your upcoming weekend getaway, and even compose beautiful poems, among other things.
To access and utilize My AI, simply navigate to your Chat screen. While My AI strives to be helpful, it is important to note that it may occasionally experience hallucinations. Therefore, it is advisable to verify any answers it provides and refrain from solely relying on its advice. Additionally, please bear in mind that any data or messages shared with My AI may be utilized by Snapchat to enhance and personalize its services. Consequently, it is crucial to exercise caution and avoid sharing sensitive or private information with the chatbot.
4 AI Snaps
Snapchat+ users have the ability to produce imaginative photos using presets or fresh prompts with AI Snaps. To utilize AI Snaps, simply tap the AI button located on the right toolbar and choose a prompt. Please note that there might be a short wait for the image to be generated. Once generated, you have the option to save the image on your device, include it in your Stories, or send it to your contacts.
Furthermore, you can enhance the image by adding text to it. In case none of the available prompts catch your interest, you even have the option to type your own prompt for a more relevant message.
5 Dreams
1. Dreams is a feature on Snapchat that utilizes generative AI to assist users in creating stylized images from their own photos. To initiate a Dream, simply swipe up from the Camera screen, navigate to the Dreams tab, and adhere to the on-screen instructions to upload a selfie. Afterwards, select a Free Pack and choose one. The first eight Dreams are complimentary, but additional packs can be purchased through an in-app transaction.
2. Snapchat+ subscribers receive a complimentary Dream pack each month, however, any unused packs cannot be carried over to the subsequent month. Currently, Snapchat does not permit users to craft their own Dreams packs with prompts; nevertheless, the assortment of themed packs provided by Snapchat is satisfactory in my view.
3. Although Snapchat's latest generative AI features are entertaining and can enhance your interactions with a unique flair, it is crucial to exercise caution when sharing personal information. For example, it is advisable not to upload images of your friends to My AI without their explicit consent.
