How to Enable or Disable Location Services in Chrome Browser {Android & PC}

 Frequently visited websites may request access to your location for valid reasons. For instance, popular shopping platforms such as Amazon and Flipkart may require your location data to display products available in your region.

Similarly, weather forecasting websites may utilize your location data to provide accurate weather conditions for your area. Sometimes, we unintentionally grant location permission to undesired websites, thus it is advisable to learn how to review websites and revoke location access.

1. Enabling or disabling location in the Google Chrome browser on your PC is a simple process. The steps remain the same for both Windows and Mac operating systems. Follow these instructions to manage location permissions.

1. First, open the Google Chrome browser on your PC. Next, click on the three dots in the top-right corner.


 
2. From the list of options, click on Settings.

3. On the Settings page, click the Privacy and Security option on the left pane.

4. On the right side, click on Site Settings.

5. On the site settings, scroll down and click on the Location option.

6. On the default behavior for location, you will find two options

  • Sites can ask for your location.
  • Don’t allow sites to see your location.
  • 7. Choose the initial option in order to activate location services. If you wish to deactivate location services, choose the option that says ‘Don’t allow sites to access your location’.

    8. Proceed to scroll down until you locate the section labeled Allowed to access your location. This section will display a list of all sites that have been granted location permission.

    9. Click on the trash icon next to the URL of the site to withdraw the permission granted.

  • To activate or deactivate the location feature in Google Chrome for Android, simply follow these steps.

    1. Begin by launching the Google Chrome web browser and selecting the three dots located in the upper right corner.
  • 2. On the menu that appears, tap on Settings.
    3. On the Settings screen, scroll down and tap on the Site Settings.


    4. On the Site settings page, tap on the Location.
  • 5. Now, on the next screen, use the toggle button beside Location to enable or disable the Location service.
     
    6. If you want to revoke location permission from sites, tap on the site URL and select the Block option. Or else, you can tap the Remove button to prevent the site from accessing your location.
